We could not be more proud of the Collier High School Model UN students!

This past weekend, they held a fundraiser at the Raymour and Flanigan in Freehold to help raise money to cover the Model UN conference registration cost. Students manned tables selling baked goods, conducted arts and crafts with kids, face painting, and judged a pumpkin painting contest. There were also raffles and movies.

About 100 people were in attendance which ensured that all of the students who needed financial assistance to go to conference are able to attend.

This will be Collier High School’s 6th year participating in the Model UN conference at Hershey Park, but our 2nd year as our own delegation. Students work tirelessly to learn about their countries, write current event papers, country research papers, and learn the parliamentary procedures. While at conference, students are joined by approximately 1600 fellow students from throughout the state where they defend, debate, and write resolutions.

Many of our students suffer from mental health issues such as social anxiety making an event like going to conference seem quite daunting, but surprisingly, they all shine! Students speak in front of large crowds addressing the chairmen and other delegates, actively participate in conversations pertaining to their country, and work with others to develop resolutions to their country’s problems.

We could not be more proud of our students’ hard work to not only make it to the Model UN conference, but to put the emotional management skills they learned at Collier to the test and pass with flying colors.

The Collier Model UN program is still taking donations to help offset the cost of attending this year’s conference. If you would like to make a donation, please visit
